MORTAL GNOMBAT!!

Happy Holidays - Death Match - MORTAL GNOMBAT Edition Mortal_gnombat_master_zps40dd3062

In observance of the Holidays, we proudly present you with the The Yellow Wizard's first Mortal Gnombat Competition.

LADIES AND GENTLEGNOMES gather round and listen to the terms and conditions for the most intense gnomey competition you've probably never heard of! (And Happy Holidays ^ _^)

Competitor hopefuls will make a Gnome character to compete in Mortal Gnombat following the guidelines below.

You maybe any combination of classes so long as your character is level 5.
You may choose your class(es) from Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, and Wizard.
You may not add a prestige class to your character.
You will get 3,500 gold to outfit your character with items from THIS link, choose wisely!
You will be a gnome.
You will not be allowed any Item Creation Feats.
You will use the Point Buy System to assign ability scores to your Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma.

Ability Score Costs:

Score.....Cost
7............-4
8............-2
9............-1
10...........0
11...........1
12...........2
13...........3
14...........5
15...........7
16...........10
17...........13
18...........17
You will have 25 points to assign your ability scores.

You will have the maximum hit points for your first level, and the average hit points for each level there after.
You will use your best effort to kill your Gnomey adversaries and become the winner of the First MORTAL GNOMBAT competition.
Winners will receive a copy of Wizardry 8 on Steam, and bragging rights for beating the crap out of a bunch of other gnomes.

------------------

Special Items (Cost to replace the cost of items listed elsewhere)

Potion of Cure Light Wounds (3rd level potency - - 1d8+3)......50gp (Limit 5 per competitor)

------------------

Let's use this thread to discuss if we want to just do an all out PVP deathmatch (preferred) or if you guys want to choose a ladder match type of event, and pick a time and day that works out the best for everyone who wants to become involved.

Happening: December 26th, 2014

Characters are subject to DM approval. Hopefully, Onions will be DM'ing this fearsome gnomish death match and gaining DM xp and courage to DM some other kinds of competitions, or even games ^ _^. If for some reason Onions cannot DM, hopefully Quark can, but the gift will still be won one way or another.

OUR FIRST MORTAL GNOMBAT WINNER IS QUARK AKA IDALA THE PALAGNOME by a gruesome victory!!!!!
Quark selected to choose a different prize due to already possessing the original offering.
Our Runner up Gnombatant Daydream died a painful death
But our runner up received Wizardry 8 on Steam.

CONGRATULATIONS IDALA ON YOUR FLAWLESS VICTORY!!

Question: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/, while good, has a whole lot of non-core stuff. From the various other books &c. How much of that is usable? There's a particular Gnome feat from a side-book I'll take if you allow it in there.

Seeing as this is our first match, I'd prefer to stick to the core things this time. It will be like a 'beta test' I think. I am thinking of other limits, before we get too far ahead of ourselves. I will update the main post after our session with a few things.

I am thinking of a good day for everyone. Is Saturday the 20th or Sunday the 21st ok with everyone? If you have to work on those days or they are not good, we can choose a different day.

Please submit your characters to me in Private Message land for approval also, if you need help making one or you have questions, please feel free to ask either in here or in private messages. And just a note, this competition is open to all of The Yellow Wizard patrons, KingMaker Group 1 and Kingmaker Group 2.

Hopefully a few more people will pop in and give their suggestions for a time and day. We have a world wide audience to consider, some from Taiwan, Hungary and Germany. I hope everyone can give me a little room for learning too, this is the first time I've done this type of stuff online as the DM.

If you have questions you don't want to share with others, feel free to pm me. If you need help with creating a character feel free to pm me as well.

Ok I've been looking into a great way to hold the competition and I think roll20.net is the answer we're looking for here. I'd like to say thanks to Quark for recommending it, it doesn't long to set your account up, and it is pretty awesome. I got a map set up and ready for everyone to bash their gnomey enemy's brains out of their skulls. While we're still a few days away from the weekend head over to roll20 and check it out and see if that works for you.

I'm feeling the 21st may be the best day for this slaughter. Quark is the only one to send me a character sheet for approval so far, so let's send those gnomes in for approval. ^ _^
I think we need to settle on a time too.

Mister Dicey

I would suggest maybe 10 GMT on the 21st, assuming you're willing to stay up that late, Onions. I'm not sure how late the other people in Australia are willing to stay up, so that might be a better option than 12 GMT.
That said, I'm fine with whatever time is appropriate. I don't have to get up the next morning.

I can't realistically do the 21st as I'm at work during the proposed time.

Mister Dicey

Well, we can try swapping to 12 GMT. Surely nothing would be open at 10 pm on a Sunday.

I work in a kitchen, as a cleaner. We stay late. I may have to withdraw from the gnombat.

How late? Also, if you can't make it and this competition works out, we can always hold another in the future!

I can't do on 21th GMT10~12, but I think I am fine with other times, I don't care wake up early or stay late.

How many entries are done, anyway? Maybe we'd have to leave it For another day. I'm open to anything at that sort oF time, just can't do it aFter the 27th.

So far just your character has been sent in, I'm not sure what my week will be like after the 21'st, and we have our christmas on the 25th, so not sure I will be online at all. Just about anytime is good for me. I just want to see some gnome bloodshed soon!

Ok, let's try to find a good day. The arena is ready, lots of spectators too.
The day I won't be able to run it is the 25. Be sure to put your suggestions for a time and day in.

Mister Dicey

Other than from the week between the 27th and the 4th, I'm fine for any time and day. 26th? 23rd?

Or we can leave it until we have enough players to make it a real competition. I can help with advice as need be.

Also, I'd definitely like to see some more competitions. I might run a few online ones myself...

Is anyone opposed to 10 GMT?
Also, there is 3500 gp to spend on the equipment you can get.
The only person to fully submit their character with the full 3500 spent so far is Quark, so if you don't
want to be there naked, send in your equipment list.

And trust me, you're gonna want that stuff, Quark is a regular spendthrift, and made every gold piece count.

Quark and Daydream have sent in their fully equipped Gnombatants.. our competition should be set for 10 GMT!

Quark and Daydream fought fiercely, though there was truly some aggression in Quark, as he dominated the battle.

I learned quite a lot in the experience, and I think Daydream did too. Overall, it was pretty fun!

Yes ^ ^, it was fun, (although I were K.O in only 2 rounds XD)
thx Onions and Quark Ninja

A suggestion :
How about next time everyone uses his/her current character to join the duel, will it be fun?
(and I think the characters can be adjusted somehow if they join the duel?)

Sounds good Daydream.
Another suggestion, what if we have both parties fighting each other? That would be interesting/

Mister Dicey

Mister Dicey

I'm happy to host another competition.

Kobolds are often looked on as being weak and pathetic, which is an opinion I'd like to change. So, how about we have Team Kobold vs. Team Adventurer?

Another thing I'd like to try is the CR 8 Battles. Basically, you can play anything so long as it reaches CR 8 maximum. That's a level 9 normal race, or up to a CR 9 monster, or a monster with class levels.

Alternatively, we can just stick with a fixed race or class, and mix up whether they're on teams, duels or mass combats.
